Best Camera Angle for Face Photos: The Science of Flattering Angles

Updated May 2026

Series of photos from different angles showing how angle affects AI face scoring

Why Angle Matters More Than You Think

Camera angle affects every metric Omoggle's AI measures. The same face shot from above scores measurably higher than from below — sometimes by 1.5–2 full points.

The Angles, Ranked

Best: 15–25° above eye level

Emphasizes positive canthal tilt, compresses lower face, makes cheekbones appear higher and jawline sharper. All four effects raise Omoggle scores directly.

Good: Eye level, perfectly centered

Honest baseline. No bonus, no penalty. Best for measuring your true PSL.

Bad: Below eye level

The worst possible angle. Expands lower face, minimizes canthal tilt, makes nose appear wider. Even a 7.0 face can drop to 5.0 from this angle.

Finding Your Best Side

Take three photos: straight, 10° left, 10° right. Compare. Your best side typically shows sharper jawline or stronger cheekbones. Use it for Omoggle sessions.
